Why is the downloading link you sent by email not working?.

There may be interference from some other program running on your computer.
Solution:- Close down all other programs and re-start your computer. |

Recommendation. Better still, shut the computer down, wait 30 seconds and then switch it on again. That will clear any glitches lurking in memory which often evade a simple re-start. |

Now, with your computer clean and fresh, click the downloading link again. This time it should work perfectly. |

Recommendation. Click the downloading link in the email or else copy and paste it into the browser's address line.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TYPE IT IN! The downloading link is a complex code automatically generated by the serving computer. Typing it into your browser's address line could lead to errors. |

Suggestion. Before downloading anything, create a new folder on your hard drive and name it Speaking English. You can then save all your Speaking English downloads to that folder. |

Recommendation. When you download a Speaking English file, make a backup copy onto CD or zip disc before you do anything else.
(Note:- floppies are OK for a lesson but are too small for a course). |

How do I open the 'CourseA.exe' file I have just downloaded? |

You cannot 'open' an executable file.
Solution:- Double-click 'CourseA.exe' to 'execute' the program. |

Explanation. 'Double-click' means place the cursor over the file and click the left-hand mouse button twice in quick succession - as quick as you can! |

The program will first unzip all the files and then proceed with the installation process.
Do not go away! Stay at your computer and follow the on-screen instructions. We recommend that you simply click the 'Next' button at each stage until you can finally click the 'Finish' button. |

When installation is complete you will be able to run your Speaking English course or lesson from the 'Start' button of your computer. Go to Start >>Programs >>Accessories >>Speaking English >>Course / Lesson. |

Note (if you like doing things the hard way). The installation process puts the unzipped files in the 'Program Files' folder on your hard drive and you can run any individual lesson in a course by opening the relevant folder and double-clicking the 'Run' file for that lesson. For example, if you want to run Lesson A4 in Course A, open Windows Explorer, go to the Program Files folder, open the CourseA folder, open the LessonA4 folder and double-click the file named 'RunA4.htm'. |
