 Bumblebee     The Theatre

If you wish to see a play, opera, ballet, musical or pop concert, you should book your ticket in advance.

The Cinema

Films are shown in the cinema, where you may be able to book in advance or just turn up and pay at the box office.

Clubs and Pubs

Many young people go in groups to the pub where they can chat and have a drink. They may go to a club where they can dance. They will have to pay an entrance fee and the drinks will probably be more expensive than in the pub.     Bumblebee

 Geum Lady Stratheden   The Restaurant
If someone is celebrating a birthday, an engagement or if someone has passed their exams, they may go to a restaurant for a meal.

Bumblebee     Listen to this conversation at the table when the waiter is taking
       the orders.

Waiter: Good evening Madam, what would you like to order?

Jane: To start with, I'd like soup and a roll please.

Waiter: We have vegetable soup and tomato soup. Which would you like?

Jane: Vegetable soup, please.

Waiter: And then to follow?

Jane: I'd like the chicken breast with a mixed salad.

Waiter: That comes with a jacket potato or fries. Which would you like?

Jane: Jacket please.

Waiter: Anything to drink Madam?

Jane: Yes! I'd like a glass of white wine please.

Waiter: Large or small?

Jane: Eh! Large please.

Waiter: Would you prefer red or white? We have a very nice house red and a choice of medium or dry white. Or would you like to see the wine list?

Jane: No, . . er . . your dry house white would be fine thanks.

Waiter: Thank you Madam. And you Sir?

Tony: I think I'll have prawn cocktail as a starter. Then I'll have the steak with green beans and potatoes.

Waiter: Jacket or fries Sir?

Tony: Fries please.

Waiter: Anything to drink?

Tony: Oh yes, can I have a pint of lager please?

Waiter: Thank you Sir. I'll bring the drinks first and then your meal will follow soon.

Tony: Thanks.

Jane: Thanks very much.     Bumblebee

The Crown Guest House,

London,
March 16th, 2000

 Bumblebee
Dear Mum and Dad,

I hope that you and the family are all well. I met Pedro in London yesterday. You will remember him from my school days. We met for lunch at a pub on the River Thames and later went to the theatre to see the show 'Cats'. The theatre was packed and the performance was excellent. We hope to meet again soon before Pedro goes home.

                Love,

Julie     Bumblebee
