Computer Based Training (CBT)

'Computer Based Training' or 'CBT' is the method used by Speaking English.com Limited to teach English. Students download lessons and courses from the Internet and then run them off-line in their own computers. Speaking English lessons installed on a computer can be run at will so that students can study at their own pace and in their own time.

Verb

A verb may be called a 'doing' word because it describes the actions of persons or things or the state they are in or what is happening to them.

Noun

A noun is the name of a person, animal or thing.
Plurals are usually formed by adding an 's' to the end of the noun. For some nouns that end in 'o' plus those ending in 's' or 'sh' or 'ch' or 'x' or 'z' you must add 'es' to form the plural.
If the noun ends in a 'y' preceded by consonant you add 'ies' to form the plural.

Pronoun

A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun, for example, 'he' 'she' 'them' 'it' instead of the name of the person or thing.

Adjective

An adjective gives additional information describing a noun or pronoun.

Adverb

An adverb qualifies or modifies a verb or adjective or another adverb such as by giving information about 'how' 'where' 'when' etc.

Preposition

A preposition is a word or group of words giving more information about the location, direction, origin etc. of a noun or pronoun. Examples of prepositions are 'to' 'from' 'out of'.

Article

Words such as 'the', 'a' and 'an' are called 'articles'.

Synonyms and Antonyms

Examples of synonyms are 'tried' and 'tested', 'lean' and 'thin', 'yearly' and 'annually'.
Examples of antonyms are 'guest' and 'host', 'follower' and 'leader', 'high' and 'low'.
